Namala Berna discovered her passion for crocheting at the age of 10 when it was taught as part of the home economics curriculum in her primary school. She found it enjoyable and would request yarn from her mother during holidays. Her first creation was a chair back called “kitambala”. When Berna’s work contract ended during the pandemic, she faced uncertainty and sought ways to survive, leading her to embrace her crocheting skills. Creating beautiful items, she received tremendous support from her friends and family. To expand her market audience, Berna eventually joined Afri art fashion show.
